Thomas W. Hertig

Thomas W. Hertig advises companies, shareholders and investors on all aspects of corporate law, including national and cross-border M&A transactions. He regularly assists with the formation of joint ventures, the acquisition of shareholdings and the drafting of shareholder agreements. A particular focus of his work lies in the structuring and legal support of partnerships and their partners. He is also developing his practice in commercial and distribution law, supporting clients in building and expanding their businesses.

Thomas W. Hertig has extensive experience in commercial litigation. He represents clients across Germany in corporate disputes before regional and higher regional courts – particularly in complex shareholder conflicts, post-M&A disputes and liability matters involving limited partnerships. Since 2020, he has conducted more than 200 civil proceedings.

Before joining valbeek, Thomas W. Hertig worked for several years at SjPP Rechtsanwälte in Hamburg. There, he advised numerous well-known mid-sized companies, family offices and private individuals in corporate transactions and commercial disputes.

Thomas W. Hertig studied law in Hamburg and completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Schleswig-Holstein, with placements at Siemens AG in Erlangen, Freshfields in Hamburg and the German Consulate General in Atlanta, USA. After being admitted to the bar in 2018, he initially worked at Freshfields in Hamburg and then at SJPP Rechtsanwälte. He has held the title of Specialist Lawyer for Commercial and Corporate Law (Fachanwalt für Handels- und Gesellschaftsrecht) since 2024 and joined valbeek in July 2025.
