Dr. Bjarne Petersen

Bjarne Petersen is a business lawyer with a strong understanding of economics. He has worked as a corporate lawyer since 2000. Bjarne Petersen advises national and international companies as well as their shareholders on national and cross-border transactions, corporate law matters and equity financing. He also has extensive experience in restructuring and advises on acquisitions in insolvency situations. Bjarne Petersen has regularly been appointed as supervisory board member of stock corporations and cooperatives (currently one mandate each).

Bjarne Petersen was born in Jakarta/Indonesia in 1970. From 1991 to 1996, he studied law at the universities of Freiburg i. Br. and Munich. After passing his First State Exam in Munich, he completed his doctoral thesis on corporate law and received his doctorate in law from the University of Salzburg in 1998. He completed his legal clerkship from 1997 to 1999 in Berlin and Jakarta/Indonesia. From 2000 to 2007, he worked at the Hamburg and New York offices of the international law firm White & Case, where he was named Local Partner in 2005.

“Handelsblatt” and U.S. professional publication “Best Lawyers” have for years ranked Bjarne Petersen among Germany's top business lawyers, listing him in the practice areas Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Law, Private Equity, Venture Capital and Restructuring & Insolvency Law. He was also named "Lawyer of the Year" in Hamburg for Mergers & Acquisitions (2024).

Since 2020 “WirtschaftsWoche” has consistently recommended Bjarne Petersen as  “TOP LAYWER” in the practice areas Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Law.
